The globetrotter website is a means for me to express my vision of the world. It is a collection of travelogues by which I try to share my adventures by showing you photos and commenting them as I would if you were leafing through my private album, sitting next to me. It is very subjective. The choice of photos necessarily reflects what caught my attention and my comments reveal my own interpretation of what I have seen. When I come back home in the spring after five months of culture shock, my head is a whirlpool of images, sounds and smells and I dream intensely every night for several weeks as things get sorted out to form more or less stable impressions of my experience.
Evidently, the world that I can share with you is the one that I can see with my own eyes and that I can integrate into the context of my own perception of the universe (which does not necessarily correspond to yours). I therefore start by offering here you an overview of the perception that constitutes the context of what I can express in this site.
I think it is useful to distinguish between the facts, the impressions and the dreams that can be derived from this website. Every year I offer a few pages where I provide some facts about the prices I have personnally observed, some second hand information about the historical and cultural context of the people I have met and some subjective impressions gathered during the trip. The dreams you can generate from these travelogues are your own and they are as valid as those I relish after every trip. Go right ahead and enjoy them... until you have the opportunity to travel and harvest your own collection of facts, impressions and dreams.

I continue developing this site for the pleasure of sharing the joys of discovery with you. Meeting wonderful people of all skin colours, ethnic origins and beliefs has inspired me to set up the Humanist Foundation of Quebec to promote critical thinking and intercultural tolerance. You may download and use the globetrotter's photos provided you mention "Photo by Bernard Cloutier" with a link to this site below each photo. High resolution versions can be acquired from our agent Travel-Images.com. |

If you feel like it, you may exchange comments and impressions with other readers in the questbook or express them to me privately by the e-mail link. Putting a link on your web site, if you have one, would invite your viewers to enjoy free virtual travel as I hope you did. |
