Business travel in 1964, 1965 and 1966

alt

I was living in Paris and travelled a lot on business all over Europe, North Africa and the Middle East at that time. Unfortunately I have only a few pictures left and I'm not certain exactly when some of them were taken so I won't specify dates.

My principal destination was Algeria 1 & 2 where I spent almost half of my time in 1964 and 1965. Newly independent Algeria was a fascinating place where being French speaking but not French was a definite advantage in dealing with the Algerians. Naturally, the nearby Morocco and Tunisia could not be missed.

I made several trips behind the Iron Curtain to export special petroleum products that were not available there at that time. Most trips were short but a business trip to Prague, Warsaw and Moscow in 1965 gave me the occasion to visit Leningrad, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen at my own expense on the way back to Paris.

Another interesting trip took me to Athens, Cairo, Beirut, Damascus, Teheran, Ankara, Istanbul and Sofia in 1966.

I also travelled to Spain, Italy, Swizerland, Yugoslavia, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Canada during that period.

I continue developing this site for the pleasure of sharing the joys of discovery with you. Meeting wonderful people of all skin colours, ethnic origins and beliefs has inspired me to set up the Humanist Foundation of Quebec to promote critical thinking and intercultural tolerance.
