Now, here come some of the more rare ninorities. A group of  Lahu people is arriving from their village in a "tractor taxi".

Later the group broke up and I spotted these three Lahus negotiating with an old woman.

A modern  Lahu woman went by with her basket. She wasn't costumed but my friends thought she looked Lahu.

And this proud  Lahu man posed at my request.

This  Lahu woman with baby was too much in a hurry to notice I was taking her picture.

There were different sub-groups of the Hani nationality at the market, some were calling themselves  Akha wore a high, black head wrapping like this woman negotiating some vegetables with a Dai woman. Others had a big black turban and a third wore a different colourful headcover.

A couple of  Hani nationality ladies wore big black turbans like this old lady making her way between the two Dai girls on the left and the Han looking person on the right.

The lady on the lower right with the colourful floppy headress also claimed to be Hani and was selling a Hani traditional headress, it was all very confusing.

Here is a  Bulang woman browsing. The Bulangs live on the border with Myanmar where they are called Palaung. They are not often seen for they are generally shy and retiring.

Jinghong airport

Back in Jinghong I considered taking the bus to Lijiang but not for very long because it's a two day voyage reputed to be rougher than the 23 hour trip from Kunming. I decided to fly to Lijiang...
