1969 to 1981 : SOCIÉTÉ QUÉBÉCOISE D'INITIATIVES PÉTROLIERES (SOQUIP)
As Founding President and Chief Executive Officer, my overall duties entailed chairing the board of directors meetings and being responsible before the board for the proper execution of all of the company's activities. More specifically, I have personally: - recommended the creation of SOQUIP to the Quebec government as early as 1964, - closely participated in the government's studies which led to the creation of SOQUIP in November 1969. - detailed the company's objectives, defined its administrative and operational structures, - recruited the first geologists and geophysicists required to explore Quebec's sedimentary basins, - established the first systems for budget definition and control, - established oil and gas exploration joint-ventures with private enterprise in Quebec and Alberta, - established international relations and concluded oil and gas exploration assistance agreements in several developing countries, - obtained increasing financial resources from SOQUIP's single shareholder, the Quebec government. In short, I assumed all the duties incumbent upon the head of the company. At the end of my term of office, SOQUIP's assets had grown to over 100 million dollars. |
